We are seeking to appoint a Workshop Fitter to join the team at a busy branch in Speke, Liverpool.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of diesel pumps and a range of ancillary equipment to the highest standards. You will work within a stable & dynamic team focusing on preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and ensuring equipment is ready to meet the needs of clients across various industries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Inspect returned pump rental equipment & diesel Generators, carry out repairs, and complete fault diagnosis as required.
* Perform preventative maintenance to optimise equipment operation and minimise downtime.
* Conduct regular servicing of pump rental fleet equipment, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
* Document and report equipment damage, recurring problems, and repair progress to the Line Manager.
* Identify opportunities for modifications and process improvements to enhance equipment performance.
* Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
* Interpret and apply technical instructions and guidelines provided by the Line Manager.
* Communicate job requirements effectively with internal contacts, including spares and downtime updates.
* Maintain accurate records on provided tablets, ensuring timely submission of completed tasks.
* Occasionally cover Mobile Fitter responsibilities during periods of absence.
* Promote the company professionally, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
* Keep work areas clean and tidy, reporting defects in tools or equipment.
* Provide flexible support, including occasional overtime during evenings and weekends.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Previous experience working with diesel engines or industrial pumps in a workshop or field based environment.
* Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and resolve faults efficiently on mechanical systems.
* Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and standard hand and power tools.
* Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, delivering high-quality workmanship.
* Qualified to Level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline, ideally automotive/HGV/Generators - engineering/ fitting.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Full UK driving licence, with the flexibility to travel for the role as needed.
