Welding Inspector – £36,000 to £40,000

The Role:
As a Welding Inspector, you’ll ensure the highest quality standards across a wide range of fabrications, including structural steelwork and large-scale assemblies. You’ll be responsible for weld inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, PD5500, and EN 1090 standards. Working closely with production teams, you’ll identify and resolve non-conformances, inspect final fabrications, and produce detailed reports. Occasionally, you’ll visit client sites for inspections and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct weld inspections and NDT, including DPI and MPI.
* Perform pressure testing (air and hydro) to verify structural integrity.
* Inspect fabrications against technical drawings and customer specifications.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO 9001 and EN 1090.
* Write detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.
* Liaise with clients, production teams, and auditors to uphold quality standards.
What They’re Looking For:
* PCN Level 2 certification in DPI and MPI (current accreditation required).
* Strong knowledge of welding processes and associated defects.
* Proven experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
* Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
Desirable Skills:
* CSWIP 3.0/3.1 certification or equivalent welding inspection qualifications.
* Experience in pressure testing and interpreting technical drawings.
* Familiarity with advanced standards like ASME or AWS D1.1.
* Engineering qualifications such as HNC/HND in Mechanical or Welding Engineering.
