Job Description

Fully remote role with option to work in the office if you like Our client, A UK-based nonprofit organisation is looking for a Web Developer to join their mission-driven team working to improve the public information environment. The role offers the opportunity to shape a key public-facing website and ensure its infrastructure is robust, accessible, and effective. You’ll play a key role in transitioning the organisation from Django CMS to Wagtail and enhancing the functionality of its website and internal tools. The role is primarily backend-focused but offers scope for full stack work depending on your interests and strengths. Key Responsibilities * Lead the transition from Django CMS to Wagtail CMS (near completion). * Develop and maintain new features and functionality for the website. * Make backend architectural decisions to support scalability and maintainability. * Provide occasional user support for internal Wagtail users (training, documentation, troubleshooting). * Collaborate with internal teams to design user-focused digital solutions. * Occasionally work across the stack and with external systems (e.g. Salesforce CRM). * Contribute to project scoping and technical planning. What We’re Looking For Essential Skills: * Strong professional experience with Django, Python, and PostgreSQL. * Proficiency with version control tools, especially Git/GitHub. * Ability to translate technical requirements into effective solutions. * Understanding of front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JS) and web standards. Desirable Skills: * Experience with Wagtail CMS. * Front-end development skills. * Familiarity with RESTful APIs and server management. * Experience with Agile workflows. Personal Attributes: * A commitment to political neutrality and sensitivity to the UK public debate context. * Clear communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
