Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our friendly team in Broxburn on a full time permanent basis.  As the Transport Operator you will be responsible for effectively managing the despatch time of loads and brief drivers, including amending loads, plans and the preparation of all delivery documentation. Working closely with Transport colleagues, drivers, and Warehouse operations to deliver a proactive despatch operation. Salary: £34,000-£37,000 per annum, depending on experience.  Working Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am. Key Duties of a Transport Operator: Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors. Continually maintain contact with Warehouse operations to ensure ‘On Time’ despatch is achieved. Review all load summary documents for accuracy and escalate any potential issues. Check load plans, gate-passes and load summary envelopes are correct, including the provision of temperature and information stickers and maps if required. Ensuring all information is updated onto the system in a timely and accurate manner. Updating pallet volumes, creating jobs, etc. Comprehend the DOT performance requirements and despatch within required framework. Understand the despatch time and plan collections around these times. Maintain and update the information on fleet and sub-contractor availability, trailer information etc. Ensure collections are covered within the agreed time frames. Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours’ regulations. Update and dealing with initial stages of Motor Collision and Personal injury packs Qualifications Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment. Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment. Sound geographical knowledge. Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law. Excellent organisational skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised. Additional Information As part of our drive to make Fowler Welch a great place to work.
