Are you ready to make a lasting impact on the UK's energy future? As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), we are helping build Sizewell C, a ground-breaking nuclear power station that will deliver 3.2 gigawatts of low-carbon electricity to power around 6 million homes for the next 60+ years. This is more than just a project – it’s an opportunity to be part of something monumental for the nation’s clean energy transition. Are you ready to take on a leadership role in one of the most exciting and complex infrastructure projects in the UK? The Sizewell C (SZC) project is set to play a pivotal role in the country’s energy future, and we need a passionate and experienced Temporary Works Lead to help drive this success. This is your opportunity to shape the delivery of temporary works across all sections of the project, from design to construction, ensuring safety, innovation, and excellence at every stage. You’ll lead the development and implementation of the Temporary Works strategy, ensuring that the best solutions are provided while adhering to industry-leading practices and client requirements. You’ll also play a key role in developing our talented team, overseeing temporary works design, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers. What You’ll Do: Shape Strategy and Procedures: Lead the development of our Temporary Works strategy and establish robust procedures for managing temporary works, ensuring they are followed across all stages of the project. Deliver Excellence: Provide technical oversight, ensuring that we deliver the safest, most effective temporary works solutions for our clients. Guide the teams with innovative advice, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Build the Right Team: Develop and implement a strong organization and resource structure with the right skills and experience to meet the project's ambitious goals. Leverage Digital Engineering: Champion the use of digital engineering tools to improve the design and delivery processes, ensuring seamless coordination across all sections. Manage Data & Permitting Tools: Work with Information Management and IT teams to create a Temporary Works Register and introduce tools that simplify permitting, inspections, and data handling. Mentorship and Leadership: Lead by example and provide guidance and mentorship to Temporary Works Managers to support their roles and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence. Engage with Stakeholders: Build lasting relationships with technical consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of temporary works across the project. What We’re Looking For: Knowledge & Skills: Essential: A subject matter expert in temporary works design and ground engineering, with a deep understanding of industry best practices. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage complex teams and deliver high-quality solutions. A strong track record in temporary works design and construction for large-scale civil engineering projects. In-depth knowledge of BS5975:2008+A1:2011/2019 and the CDM Regulations 2015. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving continuous improvement. Desirable: Experience leading temporary works on major projects within the nuclear industry or other complex, high-profile infrastructure projects. Previous experience in the Designated Individual role. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: A recognized professional qualification (e.g., MICE or MIStructE). Valid CSCS card. Strong experience applying BS5975 and CDM Regulations to complex projects. Desirable: Previous experience working in the nuclear industry or delivering large-scale, complex projects in highly regulated environments. Are you ready to be part of the CWA and help us build a sustainable, low-carbon future? This is your chance to be part of a project that will shape the UK's energy infrastructure for decades to come.
