Are you passionate about sports and inspiring young people through physical activity?
GSL Education are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) with a sports background to join a school in Scunthorpe. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and using sport and physical education to support learning, behaviour, and well-being.
The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant with a sports background, you will support students both in the classroom and during sports activities, encouraging them to stay active, engaged, and motivated. You will play a key role in helping children develop their confidence, teamwork skills, and positive behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in delivering lessons, incorporating movement and active learning where possible.
Lead or support sports and physical activities to help improve students' engagement.
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students who need extra motivation or behavioural guidance.
Encourage students to develop teamwork, resilience, and discipline through sport.
Help manage behaviour and emotional well-being, using sport as a tool for engagement.
Support PE lessons and extra-curricular sports clubs.
Who We’re Looking For:
A sports coaching background or experience working with young people in a sports environment.
Passion for physical education, fitness, and promoting an active lifestyle.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to motivate students.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
A relevant qualification in sports coaching, PE, education, or childcare (desirable but not essential).
A valid enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
