I am looking for Supply Chain / Supplier Engagement Manager to work for the Client Organisation (High Speed Two Ltd) responsible for the New High-Speed Rail project in the UK, managing supply chain activities for the newly awarded Rail System Contracts at HS2 such as Signalling, Telecoms, Pway, Power, M&E etc. Initial Contract is 6 months in duration highly likely to be extended. Role can be based from Birmingham or London Euston offices mixed with Hybrid working (3 days from home).
Looking for high calibre professionals with incredible communication & influencing skills, commercial acumen, entrepreneurial flair, risk & value management skills – could be Project Sponsor, Business Development, Commercial Manager, Pre-Contract Experience (Project Manager, Contract Management), involved in early market engagement and or procurement. Interested in candidates with Rail and major infrastructure experience such as large capital projects – Highways, Airports, Power Stations, Rail, Hinkley Point. Also open to impressive candidates in Nuclear, Automotive, Aviation but this is working in multi-billion-pound Design & Build contracts not logistics, stock levels or inventory.
The Supply Chain Manager will deliver the development, implementation and communication of supply chain activities, working collaboratively with appointed tier 1 contractors and partners to manage capacity for common supply chains, deliver market intelligence, facilitate co-ordinated contractor procurement and joint supplier development. They will engage with and prepare the industry for the scale of HS2 and position HS2 as the client of choice for suppliers in the rail and construction sectors.
The Supply Chain Manager reports to the Supply Chain Lead with Supply Chain Analyst reporting to them. The role is within the Supplier Management Team working on in the Chief Commercial Officer’s department. The Supplier Management team engages with the supply chain to ensure it is appropriately engaged, informed and visible, from pre-procurement through to procurement and contract delivery and captures the post contract value from key business relationships.
The Supply Chain Manager supports the mobilisation of the supply chain – providing the main contractors with market intelligence about their sub-contractor and suppliers financial health or risks within the wider industry. You will drive value and where possible find opportunities to save money and delivery of HS2 social benefits – could be joint procurement opportunities across contracts (economies of scale), environmental protection, economic regeneration etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Manage their respective SCM portfolio, working collaboratively with appointed tier 1 contractors (e.g. Main Works Civils, Stations, Railway Systems, Rolling Stock, Phase Two, etc. and supply chain work categories and initiatives within).
* Develop and implement a co-ordinated supply chain engagement strategy to communicate strategically with suppliers as relates to their specific SCM portfolio.
* Undertake capability and capacity analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in the marketplace in order to ensure HS2 Ltd is an informed client.
* Promote a culture of building excellent supply chain relationships, based on trust and openness, which enhance HS2 Ltd’s reputation in the marketplace.
* Lead ’deep dive’ supply chain analyses relating to critical categories of spend or commodities, to identify strategic risks and opportunities.
* Lead meetings, workshops and engagements events required to support the delivery of SCM at HS2.
* Support with timely and accurate reporting in accordance with SCM programme governance.
* Work with other members of the Procurement & Supply Chain Directorate team where cross working between the various groups and SCM is needed.
* Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
Successful Candidate
Looking for Degree qualified high calibre professional with incredible communication & influencing skills, commercial acumen, entrepreneurial flair, risk & value management skills. Open to people from a range of industries but Rail and large-scale design & Build capital projects such as Highways, Airports, Nuclear Power etc a distinct advantage. Experience working on Public Sector capital projects also an advantage.
Wil have the ability to take financial data and turn them into Management Reports assessing financial stability of companies.
Track record of delivering value (social & financial) by collaborating and influencing a range of stakeholders (internal & external).
Skills:
* Analytical, commercial and negotiating skills.
* Ability to produce and present documents and reports to a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders at various levels in the organisation.
* Stakeholder management skills – including the ability to establish, grow and develop effective strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to effectively engage with both the awarded and potential supply chain, and with any related industry bodies and stakeholders.
* Project management skills.
* Ability to use Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or equivalent.
* Ability to manage meeting calendars and co-ordinating workshops / events.
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of government initiatives, policies and best practice approaches relevant to SCM.
* Understanding of the commercial and contract delivery lifecycle including key activities during market engagement, procurement and delivery.
* Understanding of systems and reporting applications including procurement and commercial tools.
* Knowledge of applicable UK procurement legislation (helpful but not essential)
* Understanding of project scheduling, planning and project management approaches and techniques.
Type of experience:
* Experience of complex projects and analysing micro and macro sector developments.
* Experience of developing and implementing a supplier or stakeholder engagement programme.
* Experience of establishing and leading projects end-to-end
