Job Description

Sterling Recruitment Services are looking to recruit an experienced Painter to join our clients design and fabrication facility based in Brompton on Swale. Shift pattern (Backshift) 14.30 – 23.00 Mon -Thur 14.30 – 20.30 Fri Structural Steel Painters/Loaders apply protective coatings and paints to steel. Receiving and distributing of structural steel loads using Overhead Cranes. Responsibilities include surface preparation, applying primers, and maintaining equipment, ensuring long-lasting, quality finishes. Receiving of structural steel materials and distributing them to the correct location, also on to lorries ready for transportation, using Overhead Cranes. Duties/Responsibilities Apply paint, other coatings to surfaces of structural steel and components Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the painting requirements Prepare the surface of steel components for painting by cleaning, sandblasting, and applying chemical treatments Operate spray guns, brushes, and rollers to apply paint and other coatings to steel surfaces Mix and match paint and other coatings to ensure colour consistency and to match existing coatings Monitor and maintain painting equipment, including cleaning and performing routine maintenance and repairs Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to painting and coating operations The movement of incoming steel and finished product onto and off trailers Use of Overhead Cranes Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations Qualifications/Skills required Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Structural Steel Painter or similar position. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, including sandblasting and pressure washing. Familiarity with a variety of painting tools and equipment, including spray guns, rollers, and brushes. Understanding of different types of paints and coatings and how to select the appropriate one for each job. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to the painting industry. Use of Overhead Cranes This is a permanent opportunity
