GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and experienced Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a welcoming and inclusive school environment in Chesterfield. This role requires flexibility, dedication, and a proactive attitude—plus the ability to travel where needed.
Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and motivated.
Implement behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation.
Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting content to individual learning styles.
Travel between school sites or to off-site provision, as required.
Work closely with SENCOs, teaching staff, and external professionals to deliver holistic support.
Requirements:
Experience working with SEMH, or additional learning needs is essential.
A full UK driving licence.
Strong communication skills, resilience, and empathy.
Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
A team player who can also work independently when needed.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
