Time 4 Recruitment have a great opportunity for a Small Works Manager based in Cardiff working for a Contractor who focus on both commercial and industrial projects around South Wales.
The role of Small Works Manager role would suit an Estimator, Contracts manager or construction manager with some construction site management experience who has worked on smaller projects. The construction works tend to be Commercial works mainly with small amount of domestic – Our client carries out refurbishment/extensions & roofing - Lots of small project works in the value range from 10k up 250k mainly occasionally a bit bigger.
Our ideal candidate would be reasonable local (Cardiff Based) doesn’t mind travelling across South Wales. The role is supported by Admin staff to a degree and we have online Safety Management/ Job System etc etc – We would expect some level computer literacy.
As Small Works Manager your main role will be to enable preparation and understanding of the specific construction procedures as follows: planning/programming of minor works evaluating costs and preparing tenders.
As Small Works Manager you hours of work will be Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17.00- Your will be office based support and working alongside the contracts manager. You will be required to visit some sites weekly around South Wales so it is vital you have your own car. –
All expenses and travel will be paid. Some Knowledge of M&E works will be an advantage.
As Small Works Manager your Key Tasks will include:
* Briefing operatives on the works.
* Set up the site (TM, scaffold, welfare, fencing, waste disposals, etc). Undertake weekly visits to check on progress and complete H&S Audits.
* Arrange for material deliveries during the work.
* As work proceeds, quantify variations in the scope of works. Visit site before work is completed to ensure the works have been completed satisfactorily.
* Take completion photos.
* Review and understand the scope of works.
* Programme/plan the work (in line with eco timings, labour availability and traffic management lead-in, planning consent, etc). Oversee the production of RAMS.
* Engage sub-contractors/Suppliers
* Order plant/equipment/materials.
* Liaise with landowners to agree access to site.
* Complete letter drops to residents and businesses of upcoming works.
Requirements
• SMSTS
• Driving Licence
• Experience in construction management
• CSCS
