We are seeking a Senior Specialist Underwriter to join a growing Buy-to-Let (BTL) team. This is a critical role designed for a seasoned underwriter with deep experience in complex, unregulated BTL cases. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' underwriting experience, specifically handling large loans, portfolios, and complex asset structures such as multiple properties or Ltd company portfolios. If you have a background in private banking or bridging finance, this would be advantageous but not essential.
As part of a high-performing, tight-knit team, you will report directly to senior leadership and play a key role in expanding the company’s presence in the more complex BTL space. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a “can-do” attitude who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in complex underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting complex Buy-to-Let (BTL) loans, including large portfolios and multi-property deals, for unregulated cases.
Work closely with senior leadership to review and approve large loan applications.
Provide expertise on structuring loans for complex asset types, such as multiple properties or Ltd company portfolios.
Contribute to the growth and development of the BTL division, focusing on high-value loans and portfolios.
Collaborate with the underwriting team and other departments to ensure smooth loan processing.
Maintain high standards of risk assessment and decision-making within the business’s lending criteria.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and “can-do” culture within the team. Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 10 years' underwriting experience, with a strong background in unregulated Buy-to-Let.
Experience with large loan underwriting, specifically multi-property portfolios and Ltd company structures.
Strong decision-making abilities and a proactive attitude towards complex cases.
A background in private banking or bridging finance is a plus, but not a requirement.
Strong knowledge of risk management and the ability to handle high-value, complex transactions.
A self-starter with a willingness to take ownership and get involved with all aspects of the underwriting process.
An ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing business environment. Why Join Us?
