SENCO Opportunity
Teaching Personnel's PWR team are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a forward-thinking academy based in Erith, Greater London. This is a significant opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and shape the SEND provision across the school, ensuring all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally. The role is available for a September 2025 start, potentially sooner for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day management of the school's SEND policy and provision. You will lead a team of support staff, work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies, and ensure the academy meets its statutory duties regarding SEND pupils. This role requires a commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and support colleagues in meeting the needs of diverse learners.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the strategic direction and development of SEND provision across the academy.
Ensuring high-quality teaching and interventions for pupils with SEND.
Managing the SEND budget and resources effectively.
Overseeing the statutory assessment process and EHCPs.
Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress of SEND students.
Providing professional guidance and training to staff.
Candidates should hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (or be working towards it/willing to undertake it). Proven experience in a similar role, strong leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice are essential. This position will be paid according to the Leadership Payscale (Outer London), reflecting the significance of the role and the experience of the candidate.
