Job Description

We are currently working with a school based in Surrey, to start September 2025 on a full time basis. Job Description Lead the planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting of the KS3 and KS4 Humanities curriculum to ensure sequential and progressive learning. Promote pupil engagement and achievement in Humanities while driving initiatives to raise its profile and enjoyment across the school. Demonstrate subject expertise, innovative teaching, and close monitoring of pupil targets and progression. Report on the effectiveness of the Humanities curriculum to governors and external stakeholders. Core Responsibilities * Support the school’s aims, ethos, and safeguarding policies. * Plan and deliver the Humanities curriculum with clear objectives and measurable outcomes. * Monitor and report on pupil progress, providing termly updates and annual evaluations. * Promote Humanities through assemblies, activities, and cross-curricular initiatives. * Foster positive relationships with parents, pupils, and staff through professional communication. * Maintain discipline and a supportive learning environment. * Contribute to school improvement planning and enrichment activities. Professional Standards * Keep accurate records in compliance with policies and legal requirements. * Engage in professional development to enhance teaching and pupil learning. * Support the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda through effective planning and implementation. Pupils Work with pupils aged 7–16 presenting a range of behavioural and emotional challenges due to early trauma. Tailor interventions to meet their unique needs, fostering trust and engagement in education. Working Conditions * Physical Demands: May require intervention using Team Teach techniques if necessary. * Environmental: Follow health and safety protocols and complete risk assessments as required. Person Specification Qualifications & Training * Qualified Teacher Status or working towards, with a subject-specific degree. Experience * Minimum of two years’ teaching or relevant experience. Skills & Knowledge * Ability to analyse data and support pupil progress. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of high-quality teaching and EHCP processes. Personal Qualities * Commitment to pupil wellbeing, safeguarding, and school values
