Job Title: Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant Location: Chesterfield Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time Are you an experienced and compassionate support professional ready to make a positive impact in secondary education? A welcoming school in Chesterfield is seeking a Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to work with students aged 11–16 who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to secondary students with SEMH needs. Build strong, trusting relationships to help students regulate emotions and stay engaged. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to deliver targeted interventions. Support classroom learning and behaviour management in line with personalised support plans. Travel to alternative provisions or across school sites as required. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth. Requirements: Previous experience supporting students with SEMH, ideally at the secondary level. A full UK driving licence. Excellent communication and de-escalation skills. Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A flexible and proactive approach to daily challenges. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
