About the Role This role is to manage Haringey Council's Schools Estate Projects Team, which delivers minor works construction projects for myriad schools across Haringey. The successful candidate will have a strong surveying and construction project management background, and preferably experience of working for local authorities. The candidate will be expected to report to several boards and steering groups, so excellent communication skills are a must. The role comes with line-management responsibilities for two Project Managers, so experience of managing staff would also be preferable. Experience of managing and reporting on a multi-million pound budget would be another advantage. This is an operational role, on top of the managerial responsibilities, so the successful candidate should be able to also deliver construction projects. This includes a proven track record of working collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide customer-focused services and achieve objectives. Additionally, the candidate has demonstrated proficiency in managing and developing staff, fostering a performance management culture for staff development and achieving strong performance outcomes. Furthermore, the candidate brings expertise in commissioning and monitoring consultants and construction contractors to ensure effective project delivery. Notably, there is specific experience within the education sector, highlighting an understanding of the unique challenges related to school premises. Budget management is a key strength, with a demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control spending, and generate savings through effective planning and adherence to budget governance principles. In terms of qualifications, the candidate holds a degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification, such as RICS or MCIOB, and possesses a Project Management qualification to further enhance their credentials. About the Team The role will report into the Head of Resilience, Operational Building Management and Safety. The rest of the team consists of two experienced project managers, who report into this role, and a project support officer
