Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Road Safety Officer to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves delivering on the aims and objectives for road safety and casualty reduction in the County Borough. You will ensure compliance with statutory requirements and collaborate with local, regional, and national campaigns and priorities. Key Responsibilities: Analyse road traffic data, identify trends, and develop actions and initiatives to achieve safer roads in the County Borough. Develop educational programmes, campaigns, and projects for target groups, working with external stakeholders. Assist the manager in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, standards, and procedures to ensure statutory, regulatory, and strategic responsibilities are efficiently discharged. Prepare and present reports based on robust evidence, making recommendations to Officers/Members. Monitor performance in the service through the agreement of relevant performance targets and objectives. Provide specialist advice and response to technical road safety and transport queries, as well as prepare written reports to managers/Members, and present to interested parties and stakeholders. Ensure services operate within budget and meet agreed financial targets and regulations, working closely with the Finance Department. Develop effective relationships and partnerships with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to improve service delivery, communication, and working practices. Lead on the production of road safety audits and hazardous route assessments. Job Requirements: Experience in road safety. Proven ability to analyse road traffic data and identify trends. Experience developing educational programmes and campaigns. Strong report writing and presentation skills. Ability to monitor performance and set relevant targets and objectives. Experience providing specialist technical advice in road safety and transport. Strong financial acumen to manage budgets effectively. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A thorough understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements related to road safety.
