Job Description

Our client, a recognised player in the Freight Forwarding and Transportation industry who specialise in offering supply chain and logistics solutions, ground transportation, air and ocean shipments, customs clearance, and supply chain management are looking to recruit a Road Freight Operator, to join their team and offices in Manchester. On Offer: * Offering a salary up to £29,000, dependant on skills and experience. * 20 days annual leave + public holidays and yearly salary review * After completing six months’ service, Death in Service equal to three times your annual salary * After one year’s service the company offers enhanced Pension contributions of 9% annual salary * After one year’s service employees are eligible to join the Private Medical Scheme (application process required) * Holiday loyalty days up to a maximum of 5 days (1 per each full year of employment completed) plus one Milestone Day per year to take as you wish * Confidential EAP platform for you and your immediate family members as spouse/partners and children aged 16 to 24 in full-time education, living in the same household * Access to our Employee Discounts and Perks, which includes Grocery Shopping, Holidays, Movies, Sports, Wellness and many more Duties and Responsibilities of the Road Freight Operator: * Assist the Operations Supervisor Manchester in the execution of their duties in support of the Head of Operations Road Freight North’s vision of the company to become more competitive and profitable. * Understand and execute the departments vision of good business development in order to successfully import/export UK Limited’s products. * Ensure all customers and clients are invoiced correctly and on time in conjunction with SOPs. * Ensure all duties/VAT is charged correctly upon invoicing and collect any monies due in line with SOPs. * Complete all road freight import/export activities and documentation correctly and on time. * Ensure all other operational activities are completed on time and in conjunction with SOPs including financial, legal and invoicing transactions. * Ensure all other operational activities are completed on time including preparing spot quotations, raise jobs, liaise with overseas offices/clients and raise delivery orders. * Scrutinise all documentation for accuracy, authorise and pass for payment all invoices on time. * Maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships including assisting with client audits, inspection and collections and liaising with sales. * Aid credit control with collection of overdue payments from suppliers and clients * Report internal leads to the line manager/sales team. * Follow up late customer payments in conjunction with credit control. * Oversee client and sub-contractor management in conjunction with SOPs. * Maintain regular communication with sales teams reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments. To Be Considered: * Previous experience as a Road Freight Operator or in a similar role preferable (experience in road freight over one year) * Quality organisational skills and ability to manage many tasks or projects at the same time * Ability to prioritise own workload but also be able to work as part of a team * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * Conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CRM systems For full details, contact Willis Global - a leading Recruitment Consultancy for the Supply Chain & Logistics industry
