They undertake large turnkey projects for blue-chip clientele, in Europe the focus is on Data Centres and similar tech-focussed projects. In Ireland they operate as more of a generalist main contractor working across a variety of industry sectors including healthcare / hospitals, residential, education and industrial
Due to a recent project win, our client is now seeking a Regional EHS Manager in Dublin.
Responsibilities
HSE Strategy and Policy Development: The Regional HSE Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies tailored to the specific needs of each project type (commercial, residential, pharmaceutical). They ensure that the policies align with local regulations, international standards, and company guidelines. They are also responsible for promoting a culture of safety across all project sites within their region, ensuring that both staff and subcontractors adhere to established HSE protocols.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conducting detailed risk assessments is a critical responsibility. The HSE Manager identifies potential hazards specific to each project type (e.g., construction machinery in residential and commercial projects, or chemical and contamination risks in pharmaceutical projects). They implement strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring that projects are carried out in a safe environment and that workers’ health and well-being are protected.
Training and Safety Programs: The Regional HSE Manager develops and delivers safety training programs for all personnel, ensuring that workers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their tasks safely. This may include safety induction programs, toolbox talks, emergency response drills, and specific training tailored to the hazards present on pharmaceutical projects (such as handling hazardous materials or contamination control).
HSE Monitoring and Compliance: The Regional HSE Manager is responsible for monitoring compliance with HSE regulations across all projects. They conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to ensure that safety practices are being followed. They also ensure that each project complies with environmental standards and regulations. In pharmaceutical projects, they may need to ensure that specialized environmental controls (like contamination prevention and cleanroom requirements) are strictly adhered to.
Incident Investigation and Reporting: In the event of an accident or near-miss, the HSE Manager investigates the incident to determine its root cause. They then implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. The manager is also responsible for maintaining accurate incident reports, compiling data on safety performance, and providing regular reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders. On pharmaceutical projects, this may include investigations into contamination or regulatory breaches.
Requirements
* Recognised Health and Safety Degree or Diploma.
* Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
* At least 10 or more years’ of industry experience.
* Previous Construction experience is preferred (Pharma, Datacentre, Hi-Tech, Commercial)
