Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Refugee Resettlement Officer for an initial 1 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £16.63/hour PAYE – working 9am to 5pm. This role will be based in Inverness.
Responsibilities:
- Work with other stakeholders and agencies to develop and administer the wider project group.
- Provide an overall co-ordination role to all internal and external partners involved in the wider project group including the organisation of Local Delivery Group meetings and take minutes as required.
- Attend meetings (both internal, external and public) in and out with office working hours, playing an active role in promoting and supporting the wider project group and refugee participation.
- In partnership with other stakeholders, build capacity, knowledge and mutual understanding within Highland and local communities of the culture, language and religion of refugees to support integration.
- Meet and welcome refugees and their families and identify any areas of specific support, services or facilities they may require.
- Directly provide (or ‘signpost’) information about support, services or facilities and actively support refugees to access these. This may involve making introductions, using voluntary groups, accompanying family members, passing on information and actively developing links with the providers of support, services or facilities.
- Ensure that the refugees are aware of their rights and are supported and empowered to exercise them.
- Identify any support, services or facilities which are unavailable or inaccessible to refugees and report to the wider project group.
- With the support of the wider project group, communicate specific needs to providers of support, services or facilities to help ensure that these needs are addressed.
- Record activities, statistics and prepare reports as required for the Resettlement Programme group.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the wishes of the refugee families as appropriate and in accordance with the organisation’s Information Sharing Protocols.
- Assess the need for interpretation, taking into consideration complexity of information or advice and arrange for interpretation to be provided.
- Duties and responsibilities will vary from time to time.
- May be required to undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post.
Desirable Skills:
- Housing options work experience would be beneficial
- PVG certification (not required to have one prior to applying for the role)
