Job Description
NES Fircroft are recruiting for a Structural Steel QA/QC Inspector for a EFW (Energy from Waste) project based in Birmingham.
You would be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all structural steel erection processes. This position ensures compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in structural steel quality assurance and control, with experience in large-scale industrial projects such as steel fabrication for energy from waste facilities.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough inspections of structural steel components to ensure they meet the required specifications, codes, and standards.
Verify that all welding, cutting, and other fabrication processes conform to the project's requirements.
Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as visual inspections, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, or radiographic testing.· Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation for all inspections, tests, and non-conformances.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding the quality status of installation.
Manage and track non-conformance reports (NCR) and ensure timely corrective actions.· Coordination and Communication:
Liaise with design engineers, project managers, and contractors to resolve quality issues promptly.
Coordinate with the fabrication and construction teams to monitor and enforce quality standards during steel fabrication and erection.
Review and approve the welding procedure specifications (WPS), inspection, and test plans (ITP) as per project requirements.· Material Compliance:
Ensure that all structural steel materials used are certified and meet project specifications.
Verify proper storage and handling of steel materials to prevent damage or deterioration.· Quality Audits and Reviews:
Conduct periodic quality audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of the QA/QC program.
