We are a specialist SEN school in Crosby, Liverpool, dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for children with special educational needs. Our school provides tailored support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop key skills, and thrive both academically and socially. We are looking for passionate psychology graduates who want to apply their knowledge and skills to support children with SEN in a hands-on, rewarding role.
Your Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Work closely with pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help students achieve their educational and personal development goals.
Assist with implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and strategies informed by psychological principles.
Support children in building their communication, social, and emotional skills.
Use your knowledge of psychology to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours effectively.
What Were Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated psychology graduate who has:
A degree in psychology (or a related discipline).
A strong interest in working with children with special educational needs.
Knowledge of SEN conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or social and emotional challenges.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with pupils and staff.
A proactive and resilient attitude, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on children lives.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must:
Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Have an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or be willing to process a new one).
Provide two professional references related to education or childcare.
Have up-to-date Safeguarding training (training can be provided if necessary).
