A building & refurbishment contractor based in Edinburgh wishes to appoint a Quantity Surveyor with 5/6 years' experience. Sectors the company specialise in include new build commercial, hotel, and education schemes.
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for managing the financial activities from the initial calculations to the final accounts over 1-2 projects based in Edinburgh.
Duties include:
* Minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality
* Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
* Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
* Performing risk and value management and cost control
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
* Preparing and analysing costings for tenders
* Allocating work to subcontractors
* Providing advice on contractual claims
* Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
The successful candidate must have 5/6 years' previous experience working for a contractor (building/ Fitout/ civils/ PQS) and will ideally hold a relevant qualification in commercial management or quantity surveying.
