Job Description

We are seeking a Product Development Manager to join our global leadership team in Newcastle upon Tyne. This key role oversees the full stage-gate process for new products, from concept design to testing and launch, while providing technical support and driving innovation through cutting-edge materials and research. You will develop strategic product roadmaps, accelerate product development, and help shape the future of the business by building and leading a robust product development team. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and implement strategic product roadmaps and tactical technical plans. * Manage product development, testing, and compliance (e.g., BS88, EN, IEC). * Drive R&D initiatives, material innovation, and design-to-cost methodologies. * Oversee lab operations (ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation) and type testing. * Support sales with technical expertise and product launches. * Collaborate with sales and operations to address quality and compliance. * Manage projects, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. * Recruit, mentor, and grow the product development team. Qualifications and Experience: * 3–5 years' experience in product development or a supervisory technical role in a manufacturing environment. * Engineering qualification to degree level or above (or significant experience) * Strong background in electrical, mechanical, or materials engineering. * Experience with low and medium voltage components and working to IEC/BS standards. * Knowledge of compliance requirements (CE/UKCA) and running accredited test labs. * Exceptional organizational and time management skills. * Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally.
