NEW OPPORTUNITY - Process Improvement Engineer

My client ‘Hydram’ in Chilton, South Durham, is one of the largest subcontract precision sheet metal fabrication companies in Europe, and a leader in the UK sheet metal fabrication market.
A brand new role has been created in their Engineering department for an experienced Process Improvement Engineer to lead projects in optimising manufacturing processes and improving efficiency across all site operations.

As a Process Improvement Engineer, your focus will be on identifying, designing, and implementing enhancements to our processes. Some of the amazing initiatives you will be involved in will be:
* Conduct in-depth analyses of current manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
* Lead initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
* Implement and sustain lean manufacturing methodologies, such as Six Sigma, across the facility.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and introduce best practices in production.
* Optimise material flow, equipment utilisation, and production layouts.
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring efficient and scalable production processes.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of improvement projects.
* Be a change agent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
What we are looking for:
With a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, you will bring the expertise needed to make a tangible impact. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is your opportunity to take ownership of transformative projects and shape the future of our manufacturing capabilities.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional with proven skills in process improvement. The skills and experience that are important to us are:
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, or a related role within a sheet metal or fabrication environment.
* An Engineering qualification such as an HNC, HND or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field. Candidates who are suitably qualified by experience will also be considered.
* Strong knowledge of lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process mapping tools.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD/CAM software and MS Office applications.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead and influence at all levels.
* A proactive, hands-on approach to identifying and implementing solutions.
