PLC Controls Engineer
The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced PLC Controls Engineer looking for an interesting and varied role in an expanding engineering global engineering firm? This is an exciting time in the company's growth, and you will utilise your experience of commissioning machinery and your knowledge of PLC controls on a daily basis. This role is critical to ensuring that automation and data collection processes, that utilise Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to meet the existing and future needs of the business.
Job Responsibilities:
Creating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) code to control industrial machinery.
Establishing and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Improving machine PLC controls and processes to increase equipment effectiveness.
Working on equipment PLC data networks and improve process data capture.
Creating project plans to support machine control refurbishment, equipment installation, improvement, and cost reduction projects.
Identifying, specifying, sourcing, and purchasing machines and equipment.
Implementing control system upgrade projects and improve control panel design.
Identifying and implementing cost reduction and method improvement opportunities.
Identifying and implementing improvements to improve the reliability of equipment, reducing reoccurring faults, downtime and scrap.
Assisting maintenance in undertaking technical fault finding on equipment. Preferred Skills:
Served an indentured technician/craft apprenticeship or degree qualified or qualified by experience (ONC qualification or higher in an electrical/controls engineering discipline)
At least 3 years working in a maintenance/engineering department or similar role
Experience of PLC and SCADA systems Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Aware of Microsoft ProjectWorking Hours: Mon – Thurs 8-4, Fri 8-2
