Position: Operations Manager / Transport Service Delivery Manager
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Location: Burton – East Midlands
Rota: Monday to Friday 9 am – 6 pm (these hours may change slightly)
Operations Manager / Transport Service Delivery Manager Job Role:
The role of Operations Manager / Transport Service Delivery Manager will involve managing a team of drivers as well as overseeing the Traffic Office/Allocations. You will lead and manage all operations, striving to improve profitability through efficient management of the service, while ensuring a consistent, high-quality service for customers.
You will play a key role in supporting depot performance by overseeing operational staff, managing the customer experience, and addressing any service issues that arise.
The role requires ensuring services are delivered safely, punctually, reliably, and cost-effectively through fair and robust management of the team.
You will foster a highly skilled and well-trained workforce by engaging with drivers and ensuring compliance with operational policies and procedures.
Given the importance of this position, you must be a team player, working closely with colleagues to meet daily targets. You will lead by example, promoting structure and discipline in the workplace, behaving professionally, and treating all staff with dignity and respect.
Operations Manager / Transport Service Delivery Manager Responsibilities:
* Oversee the Traffic Office and supervisory team.
* Provide first-line management of drivers.
* Conduct driver appraisals and direct report reviews, identifying and addressing any training needs.
* Oversee the allocation of work.
* Manage lost mileage and resolve network issues.
* Ensure punctuality of services.
* Manage direct reports in line with policies, standard operating procedures, and relevant legislation.
* Support the Managing Director in delivering agreed plans and budgets, including achieving service and quality benchmarks.
* Ensure compliance with Operator’s Licence undertakings.
