Job Title: Production Operator (Days & Shift Work)
Location: Pencaitland
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Shift Pattern: 42 hours a week – 4 days on (6:00am – 6:00pm), 4 days off, followed by 4 nights on (6:00pm – 6:00am), 4 nights off
About the Role:
We’re looking for a flexible, hands-on Production Operator to join our dynamic team in a varied role at our malting plant and silos. This position will involve a combination of day shifts and shift work, supporting operations across multiple areas, including production, maintenance, and cleaning. The role offers opportunities to learn a wide range of tasks and gain valuable experience in malting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee malt production processes, including Steeping, Germination, and Kilning, ensuring all parameters are monitored and adjusted to meet quality standards.
Manage grain movements in silo operations, including sampling, pesticide dosing, and maintaining detailed records.
Produce malt residual pellets and barley screenings and arrange for the collection of by-products in coordination with the commercial team.
Work closely with the site management and engineering teams to identify and resolve production issues.
Ensure all necessary records are completed in line with quality procedures and standards.
Maintain a high level of cleanliness across the plant, adhering to cleaning schedules and performing general cleaning tasks as needed.
Operate and monitor the effluent plant to ensure compliance with environmental discharge requirements.
Conduct borehole chemical dosing as required for operations.
Assist with harvest operations, including drier operation, shift work, and supporting temporary workers during peak periods.
Operate the weighbridge and handle product dispatch, ensuring proper inspection and preparation of export containers.
Perform basic operational maintenance and assist the engineering team as needed.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, and Company Quality Standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Monitor and report on operational needs, working closely with management to plan and meet site requirements.
Provide shift cover during holidays, sickness, and other absences when required.
Support and train temporary workers during harvest and shutdown periods to ensure a high standard of safety and operational efficiency.

Experience:
Experience in an industrial or production environment is preferred.
Practical knowledge of health and safety regulations and industrial scale operations.
Experience operating machinery (e.g., forklift, Manitou, scissor lift) is an advantage.
