Position: Operations Manager - UK & European Road Freight
Location: BasildonHours: Mon - Fri 9am - 17:30
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
We are recruiting for a client of ours who has been providing logistics and transport solutions for over 24 years and specialises in road freight services in the UK and across Europe.
As an experienced and dynamic UK & European Road Freight Operations Manager, you will report to the Branch Manager, and oversee and optimise the road freight operations. This pivotal role will ensure the smooth and efficient execution of all transport activities, focusing on cost control, route optimisation, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Your key responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate UK & European road freight operations for Basildon clients
Lead a team of freight forwarders, traffic planners, drivers and sub-contractors
Deliver exceptional customer service
Monitor and evaluate the performance of road freight operations, implementing improvements where necessary.
Develop and implement strategies for route planning, cost reduction, and fleet management.
Negotiate with suppliers, carriers, and other external partners to ensure competitive pricing and service delivery.
Resolve any transportation related issues or delays in timely manner
Making sure the department stays up to date with regulations, ensuring compliance with all documentation
Continuously monitoring the team's performance, offering training and making adjustments accordingly Requirements:
Experience with a UK based freight forwarder is essential
Proven experience in UK & European road freight management
CPC Holder would be advantageous
Strong managerial experience in general operations, traffic planners, operators, drivers and sub-contractors
A strong understanding of transportation and operation regulations in UK & Europe
The ability to problem solve and work effectively in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines
