Waking Night Support Worker in Drybrook, Gloucestershire, GL17. A wonderful opening to join ‘team Lucy’, for an experienced, organised and jovial professional support worker. £17.00 to £19.00 gross per hour depending on experience Nearest Tube/Station: Gloucester Wage/Salary: £17.00 to £19.00 gross per hour depending on experience. Driver Essential? Yes, own car needed as family home is rural Essential: Experience working within a family/home environment, supporting an individual with a physical disability and complex needs, epilepsy experience. *Female applicants only. Fluent in spoken and written English. Highly desirable: Hands on experience in dealing with seizures, preparation of feeds, PEG training, moving & assisting, Buccal, epilepsy, First Aid and medication administration trained. Start Date: ASAP Days & Hours: Waking Nights: Wednesday Thursday, and Friday, 8.00 pm to 08.00 am. The family would appreciate some flexibility for additional hours or shifts, including daytime shadow shifts to help you and Lucy get to know each other. Family/Client Pets: 4 gentle, friendly dogs Accommodation: Fantastic staff kitchen, bedroom/shower room/office/medication room within Lucy’s annex while on duty. Recruiter: Janet About this client/child: Lucy, 23 years old, has her own annex which is fully adapted to meet all her needs and surrounded by outstanding views of the Gloucestershire/Welsh countryside. Lucy is at the heart of her family; her mum, dad, two siblings and 4 dogs make this a busy and happy household. Lucy has her own hydrotherapy pool, a wonderful bedroom and sensory room with access to her garden. Lucy loves sensory input, for example watching TV programs; Strictly Come Dancing, Mr Tumble and Balamory are firm favourites. Lucy is a home bird, but there are times when her daytime staff go on outings; she likes to people watch or occasionally go to the cinema. Lucy has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. She requires support in all aspects of personal care, administering feeds, liquids and medication via her PEG, positioning in sleep system, observations, e.g monitoring temperature and heart rate. Lucy will vocalise her needs, especially if she is feeling discomfort or pain. She has a lovely smile for you when she is feeling happy and content. Overview of role: Handover from the day staff takes place at 8:00 pm before Lucy settles for the night. Some evenings, she may want to stay up a little later, depending on how her day has been. A comprehensive care plan is in place for her night routine. Once Lucy is settled, the waking night support worker moves upstairs to the staff room, where they monitor her via the work iPad. Throughout the night, you’ll have scheduled times to record Lucy’s temperature and heart rate, though she generally sleeps well. Additionally, there are various Lucy-related tasks to keep you engaged during your shift. Lucy is gently woken just before 7:00 am so her morning feed can be prepared and started at around 6:45 am. The morning handover takes place just before 8:00 am. Further details are available upon application. Who this job would suit: To get to and from the family home, you must have your own vehicle.
