New Product Development Manager
V3 are on the lookout for an experienced Product Development Manager to join our client's dynamic team. This role is key in developing innovative car camping solutions that expand their portfolio and strengthen their position as a leading global brand in this space.
Salary range:
£60,000 - £70,000
The Role
This role involves overseeing the development lifecycle of new products, ensuring that they meet our high standards for quality, design, and performance. A key focus will be on evolving the existing range, enhancing functionality, comfort, and versatility.
The NPD Manager will have a significant influence on product design, collaborating with key teams across the business, and driving innovation that defines the future of the business. They will play a pivotal role in scaling the product offerings and driving the company's long-term growth.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and design partners to lead the evolution of the product range, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer needs. Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Product Development:
⏹ Oversee the development of new products from concept through to supplier order stage.
⏹ Define and manage project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation to achieve business objectives.
⏹ Ensure all new products are thoroughly tested and meet the high standards for quality, performance, and functionality.
Design Leadership:
⏹ Lead the design process, ensuring that products are innovative, cost-efficient, and maintain the aesthetic and brand presence.
⏹ Leverage a strong eye for detail and design to ensure products are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and align with brand identity.
⏹ Manage external design teams, ensuring alignment with the vision.
⏹ Oversee design reviews, prototypes, and sample approvals to maintain quality and brand standards.
Team Leadership & Growth:
⏹ Act as the primary lead for all new product development projects and gradually develop a team as the business grows.
⏹ Establish best practices for product development processes, ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency.
Commercial Focus:
⏹ Maintain a commercial mindset, balancing design innovation with cost efficiency and market competitiveness.
⏹ Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure product designs meet market demands and consumer expectations.
Project Tracking:
⏹ Use stage-gate project management processes to ensure that new product development projects stay on track, are delivered on time, and meet all internal and external requirements.
⏹ Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring that challenges are addressed early in the development cycle.
⏹ Maintain clear and consistent documentation of project status, ensuring visibility for stakeholders across the business.
Sample & Prototype Management:
⏹ Manage the sample approval process, ensuring that final prototypes meet quality standards ahead of production.
⏹ Maintain logs and storage control of all samples and development assets.
⏹ Prioritise speed and an efficient cadence in prototyping and validation to accelerate time-to-market without compromising quality.
Ideal Candidate
⏹ Bachelorʼs degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.
⏹ 5 years of experience in new product development, preferably in the outdoor, automotive, or consumer goods sectors.
⏹ Strong design background with experience in directing design teams and managing product aesthetics, functionality, and costs.
⏹ Demonstrated expertise in stage-gate project management and a proven history of delivering quality products on time.
⏹ Experience working with global suppliers and managing supply chains.
⏹ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with external suppliers.
⏹ Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit suppliers and oversee product development.
⏹ Proven ability to manage and develop design teams
