Job Description

Job Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Spanish Teacher to join our school in South East London. The successful candidate will teach Spanish to students across KS3 & KS4 age groups and abilities, fostering a passion for language learning and cultural understanding. The role requires a teacher who is committed to delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to develop their language skills while encouraging global citizenship. Key Responsibilities: * Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging Spanish lessons for students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5 if applicable). * Develop and implement schemes of work that are in line with the curriculum and tailored to the needs of all learners. * Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported. * Assess, monitor, and track student progress in Spanish, providing regular feedback to students and parents/carers. * Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages the use of Spanish in everyday contexts. * Prepare students for external exams (e.g., GCSE and potentially A-Level) by providing appropriate guidance and exam preparation materials. * Foster students’ cultural awareness of Spanish-speaking countries through lessons, extra-curricular activities, and cultural events. * Collaborate with colleagues in the MFL department to ensure a consistent and effective approach to teaching and learning across the school. * Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and other school events as required. * Participate in the development of curriculum materials, including textbooks, digital resources, and extracurricular activities. * Ensure that all students are making progress in their language acquisition and have a deep understanding of both the language and culture. * Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities such as clubs, trips, or language exchanges. Requirements: * A degree in Spanish, Modern Languages, or a related field. * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (for UK-based applicants). * Previous experience teaching Spanish at secondary school level, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4. * Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Spanish. * A student-centred approach to teaching with a clear understanding of how to differentiate lessons for learners of varying abilities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to inspire and motivate students, encouraging their love for language learning. * Good organizational and time-management skills. * A commitment to continuous professional development. Desirable Qualifications and Experience: * Experience of teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3-5 (A-Level). * A second modern foreign language (e.g., French, German) is advantageous. * Experience with using technology in the classroom (e.g., digital learning platforms, interactive whiteboards). * An interest in or experience with leading or contributing to extracurricular activities related to Spanish or MFL. * Experience of working in a bilingual or multilingual setting is a plus. How to Apply: Please submit your CV, along with a cover letter detailing your teaching experience, why you are passionate about teaching Spanish, and how you would contribute to our MFL department
