Established for over 30 years, they have provided services alongside a variety of statutory and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) colleagues in Surrey and its boarders. They are currently looking for a Part Time Mental Health Support Worker to be based within the Foodbanks within the Spelthorne area.
Salary: £25,970 pro rata
Hours: 28 hours (open to 5 part days or 4 full days)
Duration: 2 year contract

Location – Spelthorne area (mainly Stanwell and Sunbury)
This is a unique and fantastic opportunity to offer mental health support within foodbanks in the Spelthorne area. In the role you will be supporting individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges, helping to identify immediate needs and provide reassurance during foodbank visits whilst helping them to navigate the mental health system to ensure access to the appropriate services.
You will have a confidential area to work in so individuals feel able to talk in confidence. This will also give you the opportunity to assess and identify when individuals require professional intervention and make appropriate referrals.
It is key that you work collaboratively and build strong relationships and networks with relevant colleagues and agencies from the statutory and voluntary health, social care and wellbeing sectors to support individuals (e.g mental health services, GP’s, social care teams and other services).
You will also have the opportunity to provide basic mental health awareness to food bank staff and volunteers as required.

Our ideal applicant will have/be;
Experience of working with individuals with mental health needs and ideally you will some experience working with individuals who are in crisis
An understanding of Safeguarding policy and practise
Extensive knowledge of and understanding of mental health issues
Experience of working within a community setting is preferred but not essential
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Enthusiastic and proactive nature
