Materials Manager of Additional Services (Rolling Stock)
Chester | £28.94 per hour (Inside IR35) | Initial 6-month contract, likely to be extended
The Opportunity:
As the Materials Manager of Additional Services, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services to maintain fleet operations, with a particular focus on depot activities related to additional services.
The volume of materials is high, and the role requires a proactive approach in assisting with managing the workload. The ideal candidate will be comfortable chasing suppliers, managing supplier guarantees, handling NCRs, and ensuring accountability. You will also need to be confident in pushing and following up with suppliers to maintain supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure materials and services are available to support operations and maintenance activities.
Coordinate Material Controllers and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage stock levels, procurement activities, and supplier negotiations.
Oversee material control processes, including repairable and warranty items, and handle NCRs.
Proactively chase suppliers for deliveries and guarantee compliance.
Liaise directly with customers to align material levels and operational needs.
Support supply chain efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engage with suppliers on warranty and penalty claims management
Essential Criteria:
Proven experience in Materials Management, Purchasing, or Logistics roles.
Previous experience in an Engineering or Rail environment is highly desirable.
Minimum of three years of experience in material supervision, inventory control, or supply chain supervision.
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems and components is a plus.
Experience with warranty claims, repairable items, or reverse logistics is advantageous.
