Job Description
The Managing Director (MD) will be responsible for leading my client through its next phase of growth, overseeing the company’s strategic, operational, and financial performance. The MD will report to the Board of Directors and work closely with key leadership teams to drive company objectives, ensure operational excellence, and build long-term partnerships. This individual will have extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, combined with strong leadership capabilities to inspire teams, manage stakeholders, and execute business strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the company’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. Drive growth initiatives that align with market trends and opportunities in the renewable energy sector, particularly solar energy.
Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations and, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Ensure that operational processes are efficient, scalable, and adaptable to changing market conditions.
Financial Management: Direct the financial management of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Monitor financial performance, ensuring profitability, financial sustainability, and the effective allocation of resources.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the senior leadership team. Cultivate a high-performance culture that fosters collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Ensure that the company has a robust talent pipeline for future growth.
Business Development & Growth: Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to fuel the expansion of my client. Establish strategic relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in the renewable energy industry.
Market Positioning & Branding: Enhance the company's brand presence in the renewable energy market by advocating my clients value proposition and communicating its competitive advantages.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure the company’s operations are in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Manage risks proactively to safeguard the company’s reputation and operational effectiveness.
Customer Focus: Ensure the company consistently delivers high-quality products and services to clients, maintaining a customer-first approach. Oversee customer satisfaction, quality assurance, and service improvement strategies.
Reporting & Accountability: Report regularly to the Board of Directors on company performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), business challenges, and market developments. Provide strategic recommendations and updates on progress. Key Requirements:
Proven experience as a Managing Director, CEO, or senior executive within the renewable energy sector or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of the solar energy market, renewable technologies, and the regulatory landscape.
Demonstrable success in driving business growth, scaling operations, and managing large teams.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
Experience in strategic planning, business development, and fostering key partnerships.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while balancing multiple priorities and challenges.
A proven track record in improving operational efficiency and implementing innovative solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions.
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel, if required. Desirable Qualifications:
A degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience in the solar installation or energy storage industries is a significant advantage.
Knowledge of sustainability practices, environmental impact strategies, and the UK’s renewable energy policies.
