We are searching for a Maintenance Team Leader (Mechanical) at our Sittingbourne Plant in Kent.  Can you say yes? What you'll be doing: The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the management, supervision, coordination and development of the shift-based maintenance technicians. Through this team, the MTL ensures efficient and effective preventative and reactive maintenance of plant assets. As a leadership role within the maintenance function, the MTL also has a collective responsibility to ensure plant, process and infrastructure safety, performance, availability, and reliability. Main Responsibilities include: To lead the team of on-shift maintenance technicians, ensuring their activities are aligned with plant objectives on planned and reactive maintenance (process utilisation and availability metrics), engaging with the shift manager team as required. To develop the team, including technical support, performance appraisal and reviews, mentoring and development, standards, and discipline. To develop a suite of documented processes, technical standards, diagnostic aids and risk assessments for routine maintenance activities. Together with the Operational team, to engage in planned maintenance activity scheduling and coordination, ensuring that tasks are appropriate, standardised, and executed on time and to the right standard. To engage with topical specialists from within the wider Knauf group both to develop process knowledge and technical competence, and to share best practice. To coordinate and supervise, service & repair contractors, always ensuring the opportunity to develop maintenance practices and record appropriately. Provide an active contribution to the activities and responsibilities of the engineering department & workshop, supporting and providing cover for colleagues where required. Health & Safety: Functional support, driving safety standards & excellence. Ensuring compliance audit actions are duly completed and maintained. Supporting regulatory audits. Acting as site nominated specialist ensuring compliance, maintenance & service for our LEV, DSEAR & Other engineering related legislation. Closing date for applications 25th February 2025. What we'd love for you to have: Strong management & Leadership skills. Awareness of current workplace health and safety legislation. Multi skilled electrical/mechanical vocational qualifications, apprenticeship or equivalent. Specialist engineering competence in a mechanical and/or electrical vocation. Experience working with automated plant and equipment. Process competencies to develop technical expertise. Articulate, literate and numerate with good communication skills. Well-developed IT skills including MS office; SAP skills are an advantage.
