Role: Learning Mentor Location: Alsager Salary: £83.33 to £95.75 per day, depending on payroll selection Contract: Full-time, Long-term Start Dates: April and September 2025 About Us We are a specialist school in Alsager, dedicated to providing high-quality education for autistic children and young people aged 4 to 19. With a capacity for 70 students, we ensure small class sizes and a structured, nurturing environment where students can thrive. Our child-centred approach tailors learning to each student's individual interests, strengths, and needs, with pathways that include vocational qualifications, GCSEs, and life skills programmes. We foster an ethos of high expectations, independence, and resilience, helping students develop confidence and self-belief. Our setting is calm, structured, and supportive, designed to help students feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed. In our most recent Ofsted inspection, they were rated 'Good' across all areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth form provision. Role Overview As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting both male and female students with special educational needs, particularly Autism. You will work closely with students, both one-on-one and in small groups, to motivate, guide, and support them in their education. This role requires someone who is patient, adaptable, and confident, able to build strong relationships while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and learning. You will collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging and tailored learning experiences, with a focus on vocational studies, functional English and Maths, and personal development. Key Responsibilities Work alongside teachers to deliver high-quality, structured learning experiences. Support students in developing independence, confidence, and resilience. Provide positive role modelling, encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour. Help students prepare for life beyond school, including further education, apprenticeships, and employment. Build strong, supportive relationships with students to keep them engaged and motivated.Key Requirements Understanding of working with students who have Autism. Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain clear expectations. Resilience and adaptability-the ability to manage challenges and keep students engaged. A proactive mindset with the ability to inspire and motivate young people. Willingness to learn new skills and techniques. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
