Jobsworth Recruitment are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients based in Oxford, However you will be required to work from their Birmingham office twice a week, so full UK drivers licence and own transport is a must for this position with willingness to commute. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing costs and ensuring the financial viability of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Location- Oxford based, however you will also be based in Birmingham twice a week.
Salary- £25,000 to £30,000 per year, Including company pension
Hours- Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Monitor project progress and provide regular updates on financial performance.
* Conduct cost analysis and identify areas for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment on budgetary constraints.
* Review contracts and negotiate terms to safeguard the organisation's interests.
* Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
* Prepare tender documents and assist in the selection of contractors.
* Provide advice on procurement strategies and risk management related to costs.
Requirements
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Currently studying for Bachelors
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making is essential
