The Flavour Network has partnered with a leading pet food business to help them find an ambitious NPD Technologist to join their innovative team based in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Developer or Technologist looking to take the next step in New Product Development. As the Junior NPD Technologist, you will play a key role in all aspects of product development, from market research and recipe formulation to testing, while collaborating with top manufacturers and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities for the Junior NPD Technologist
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams (marketing, procurement, production) to ensure successful product development and launch.
* Conducting market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and customer preferences that inform product development.
* Assisting in the formulation of new product recipes, considering factors like ingredient functionality, cost, and nutritional needs.
* Conducting product testing, including sensory analysis, shelf-life testing, and nutritional evaluations.
* Liaising with 3rd party manufacturers to secure top-tier innovation and quality.
* Creating and maintaining accurate product specifications, costings, and documentation.
* Leading and supporting product trials, both in-house and with external suppliers/manufacturers.
* Keeping up to date with industry trends, emerging ingredients, and technologies to drive innovation.
* Resolving technical challenges throughout the product development process.
* Supporting production post-launch, ensuring smooth transitions and conducting follow-up reviews.
* Developing packaging and design briefs that align with market needs.
* Facilitating and attending photo shoots for product visuals.
* Contributing content for social media and communications channels.
Requirements for the junior NPD Technologist
* 3 + years’ experience in an NPD role, either with a brand or own label.
* Proven experience working in food and manufacturing development.
* In-depth knowledge of food, nutrition, and product development processes.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and other relevant software.
* A hands-on approach with a can-do attitude is essential for this roleBefore You Apply
