Job Description

Are looking for a Triage Officer position at a competitive rate of £26-27 an hour? Do you want to be supported and trained in specialist areas to enhance your skills? A North Essex Local Authority is seeking two Triage Officers to join their team on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond March due to an ongoing service review. This is a front-facing role where you will assist clients during the initial homelessness approach stage, before referring them to the Housing Options team for further action and decisions. Key Responsibilities: Conducting initial assessments for homelessness cases Evaluating eligibility for homelessness assistance Booking temporary accommodation Handling housing register queries Completing DASH risk assessments (for domestic abuse cases)While prior experience with all of the above is not essential, you must have experience working within a homelessness team in a Local Authority. Training will be provided in certain areas, such as temporary accommodation bookings and domestic abuse assessments, for the right candidates. Ideal Candidate: Previous experience in smaller, rural Local Authorities is advantageous Knowledge of the Locata system is a bonus, though not required Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a willingness to learn Have a reference from a previous line manager who can vouch for your capabilitiesThis role requires 3 days a week in the office, and this is non-negotiable.
