Job Description

A Local Authority is looking for a Housing Options Officer to join their team on a minimum 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. You will play a crucial role in assessing housing needs, preventing homelessness, and providing housing advice to applicants. This includes: Assessing and responding to homelessness applications under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996. Writing S184 decision letters and Personal Housing Plans (PHPs). Providing housing options advice, including tenancy sustainment, welfare reform support, and negotiation with landlords and lenders. Managing temporary accommodation placements and seeking solutions to prevent homelessness.Experience Required: Strong working knowledge of HRA 2017, Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, and landlord & tenant law. Experience handling homelessness cases and making legally sound decisions. Prior experience with Locata or working within an Sussex Local Authority is highly desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team in a rural setting. You will only be needed in the office a competitive 2 days a week, which is highly desired and offers an excellent work-life balance with a highly competitive rate.
