Job Opportunity: Housing Options and Homeless Prevention Officer (Temporary)
Position: Housing Options and Homeless Prevention Officer
Contract: Temporary, 7-month contract with the possibility of an extension.
Possibility of Extension: Yes, based on performance
Pay Rate: £26.35 per hour (PAYE)
Working Hours: 35.00 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:00
Location: UB8 1UW
Job Purpose:
To provide expert advice, undertake complex casework, represent the Local Authority in high-profile situations, and proactively contribute to supporting the effective leadership and management of the Housing Options, Move-On, and Homeless Prevention service for residents in need of housing advice and assistance.
The post-holder will be responsible for proactively contributing to leading a service delivering housing options advice, including low-cost home ownership, preventing homelessness, and undertaking statutory assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
To be responsible for the selection, development, and performance of project teams for the delivery of agreed priorities and programs within the Housing Service and other corporate and cross-cutting service areas.
To provide support so that all team members receive the appropriate level of communication to maintain engagement with the Council's vision, priorities, and activities.
To be a visible and effective senior officer within the service and department, represent the service at a range of public and internal forums, actively seek to improve the council's service delivery, and provide a cohesive and efficient service to colleagues, Hillingdon residents, and stakeholders.
To support the implementation of relevant policies, strategic actions, and objectives within the operation of the team, identifying opportunities to improve performance, promoting modern and professional service delivery, expanding good practice and actively targeting weaker aspects of the service to improve.
To challenge, manage, and resolve poor performance where it exists within the service.Qualifications and Experience:
Experience in identifying, developing, and implementing innovative, cost-effective, solutions that lead to improved business processes and service improvements using recognized improvement methods
Experience in successfully managing a complex project involving a range of partners
Experience in budget management.
To have a comprehensive and cross-cutting understanding of relevant policy and strategy areas, including, but not exclusively:
Hillingdon's housing strategy, homelessness strategy, and related sub-strategies.
Hillingdon's Health and wellbeing strategy.
Hillingdon's social housing allocations policy.
The Housing Act 1996 parts VI & VII.
Codes of guidance from the central government.
DWP guidance and benefits regulations.
