Position Overview
The Head of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of projects, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include driving product innovation with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, providing technical guidance to solve complex problems, and engaging with stakeholders to stay ahead of market trends and technological advancements. Key Areas of Responsibility
* Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring high performance and professional development.
* Project Oversight: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of a wide range of decarbonisation initiatives
* Innovation: Drive innovation in product development, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure all engineering projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
* Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including sales, marketing, and customer service, to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
* Budget Management: Manage the engineering budget, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
* Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, solving complex problems and making critical decisions.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, suppliers, and industry bodies to stay abreast of market trends and technological advancements.
Key Tasks
Engineering Team management and development
Peer review of RIBA stage 1-5 design process
Managing the surveying process on projects, collecting relevant information and formulating templates
Production of feasibility studies looking at a range of renewable energy technologies and application
Supporting business development in work winning activities
Production of client and sub-contractor specifications
Providing target cost plans for operational procurement
Ownership of BIM Policy, Training Plan and production of BIM Execution plans
Management and production of M&E designs utilising CAD and Revit
Analysis of contractor’s system designs prior to commencement of works
Assisting during client meetings on technical aspects of project
Advising and supporting with technical issues post installation
Management of acceptance testing & analysis of system performance post completion
Represent our client at industry events, identify business development opportunities and new industry standards
Development of professional associates / consultant and new product offerings.
To ensure understanding of the our clients quality and environmental management systems and to work according to their requirements.
To be aware of the environmental aspects and impacts relevant to the work of the job holder as well as ensuring compliance with any environmental legislation that is applicable to the job.

Ensure the timely and accurate completion of design reviews
Client satisfaction with feasibility studies
Reduction in specification-related issues during project execution.
Accuracy and clarity of specifications produced.
Accuracy of cost plans in relation to actual project costs.
Utilisation of Engineering Team in India
Identification and resolution of design issues before project commencement.
Minimal design-related project delays.
Compliance
To ensure understanding of the quality and environmental management systems and to work according to their requirements.
To be aware of the environmental aspects and impacts relevant to the work of the job holder as well as ensuring compliance with any environmental legislation that is applicable to the job.
Ensure all activities are GDPR compliant.
Qualifications, Certification and Licences
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a technical related field.
Demonstrable Experience
* Extensive experience of engineering/energy analysis, design of hydraulic and/or renewable heating systems heat pump systems.
* Experience of renewable and low carbon technology, such as GSHP, ASHP, along with Solar PV/Battery storage and CHP/grid parallel connections
* Experience modelling energy consumption and carbon emissions
* Experience working on commercial and domestic building system design.
* Building and plantroom surveying experience
* Experience of working in a matrix management model
* Experience of supporting international teams
* Delivering high level appraisals and investment grade proposals
* Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and developing engineering teams.
* Strong technical knowledge of heat pump systems, HVAC, and renewable energy technologies.
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
* High regard to commercial awareness
* Experience with AutoCad Software
* Knowledge of Revit software

Travel Requirements
The role will be based in our Northeast Offices, with opportunity for flexible and hybrid working. Travel will be required on a regular basis to other operating locations as specified by the Company.
