Job Description
Due to continued growth I’m currently recruiting for a General Operative to work with a well-established engineering company based near Halesowen. As the General Operative you will be responsible for assisting with Preparing goods for despatch, loading / Unloading lorries and operating band saws
Working hours for the General Operatives:
* Monday – Thursday 07:00am – 15:00pm
* Friday 07:00am – 12:30pm
What’s on offer for the General Operative:
* salary up to £23,200 p.a.
Duties of the General Operative:
* To place goods onto pallets for despatch or to leave in a suitable and safe location for loading if a pallet is not required
* The wrapping or banding of goods to pallet if required
* Loading and unloading of vehicles via forklift or pendant crane
* General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
* Ensuring material is safely stored in stock
* Using forklift to deliver / collect material to / from other departments
* Mobile and overhead crane driving (if licenced)
* Removal of swarf from each saw every day and cleaning of any leaks/spills
* General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
* Ensuring any sawn bars are marked with internal number and returned to stock
* Inspection and marking of incoming material
* Work as a team with saw operators
* Work to assist other departments where possible
* Adhere to health and safety methods and procedures
* Perform stocktake of all material when required
The successful candidate for the General Operatives position will have the following experience:
* 3 – 5 year’s experience working as a Labourer (Essential)
* Operating overhead cranes (Desirable)
* Ability to operate bandsaws (Essential)
* Experience within heavy engineering (Desirable)
