Job Description

ALink Recruitment are working with a leading engineering consultancy that is looking for an Engineering Manager. The role is to oversee and enhance the engineering operations within the rail, transport, and housing sectors, managing Engineering Discipline Leads and Design Delivery Managers. The Engineering Manager will ensure optimal team performance, efficient utilisation of staff, and uphold the highest standards in design deliverables. Key Responsibilities: * Direct management of Engineering Discipline Leads and Design Delivery Managers, ensuring strategic alignment of teams with project goals. * Oversee the utilisation of staff across projects, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to meet business needs and project deadlines. * Approve engineering design deliverables, ensuring they meet client requirements, and regulatory compliance. * Monitor and evaluate team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and quality. * Drive innovation within the engineering processes, incorporating new technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive edge and sustainability. * Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to innovate and improve processes and designs. * Serve as a key decision-maker in project reviews and troubleshooting sessions. * Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. * Ensure all engineering activities and projects are compliant with legal, contractual, and company standards. * Own the quality of technical outputs from the supply chain, ensuring all external contributions meet internal standards and client expectations. * Lead the preparation and approval of new quotations to clients, ensuring they are competitive and reflective of the scope and requirements of projects. Requirements: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. * Proven experience (minimum 6 years) in a senior engineering management role, with specific experience in the rail, transport, and housing sectors. * Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Strong understanding of project management principles and practices. * Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and leadership skills. * In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. * Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging team members and stakeholders. Desirable: * Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent. * Experience with digital engineering tools and software. * Record of leading successful innovation and improvement initiatives in engineering design.
