Are you ready to lead the development of the next generation of engineers on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects? The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking an Engineering Development Manager to spearhead the development of our people strategy, ensuring our engineers have the skills and opportunities to thrive in delivering the Sizewell C nuclear power station – a cornerstone of the UK’s clean energy future.
As Engineering Development Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the development of engineers and supporting disciplines across the Sizewell C project. You will design and lead a comprehensive development strategy, ensuring our workforce is equipped with the knowledge and capabilities required to meet the challenges of one of the most complex engineering projects in the UK.
In this impactful role, you will:
Lead the Engineering & Assurance people development strategy, ensuring the project is an outstanding environment for engineers to grow.
Focus on developing early-career talent (graduates, apprentices) who will be the future leaders of the industry.
Oversee competency management processes to ensure all engineers meet the required qualifications and competencies.
Manage knowledge sharing strategies to provide engineers with the tools and information they need to succeed.
Support professional development, including mentoring, career progression, and development towards professional membership with institutions such as ICE and RICS.
Develop and implement tailored training and development programmes to meet the unique needs of this large-scale project.
Your role will also involve:
Designing apprenticeship wrap-around programmes and facilitating development for apprentices in Civil Engineering, Digital Engineering, and Surveying.
Managing learning materials within our Learning Management System and tracking progress against strategic KPIs for engineering development.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Proven experience in designing and delivering learning, talent, and development solutions, ideally within complex engineering environments.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills to support early-career professionals.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and change management abilities.
The ability to influence and engage a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels.
A commitment to diversity, equality of opportunity, and continuous professional development.
Experience in managing multi-site teams and working across departmental and professional boundaries.
