Job Description

Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home Location: Guildford, Surrey Salary: £40,000 - £43,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? An award-winning local authority is looking for a Deputy Manager to join a new, state-of-the-art children’s home in Guildford. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the home, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs, assisting them in achieving stability and reaching their full potential. About the Role: As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to lead a dedicated team in providing high-quality care and support to the children and young people. This role offers the chance to play a key part in developing the home, ensuring it provides a nurturing, therapeutic, and safe environment for the residents. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, with on-call duties as required. There may also be occasional weekend work to meet the needs of the home. Key Responsibilities: * Assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations. * Supervise and mentor the care team, ensuring they deliver exceptional, child-centered support. * Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people to support their emotional, social, and educational development. * Take the lead on care plans, risk assessments, and interventions tailored to individual needs. * Assume management duties in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring smooth operations. About You: We are looking for an enthusiastic, empathetic, and experienced individual who is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young people. Essential Criteria: * Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). * Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. * At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting. * A minimum of 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience. * Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience supporting young people with EBD and complex needs. * Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
