Job Description
MECHANICAL COST ESTIMATOR
The client, a rapidly growing SME Mechanical Engineering specialist, is seeking a Cost Estimator to work across 2 areas of the business. You will be working on both reactive & PPM Mechanical & Electrical projects, predominately within the public sector including schools, hospitals, social housing & prisons.
Key Responsibilities:
* Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment
* Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors
* Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
* Assessing the risk levels associated with a project
* Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done
* Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers
* Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs
Key Skillset:
* The Estimator should have a background in Mechanical, Electrical or ICA equipment and services
* Experience working with Local Authority/Central Government contracts
* The Estimator will have the ability to evaluate proposals from the supply chain for MEICA equipment including scope of supply, technical compliance, and commercial offer.
* The Estimator will have good communication skills
* The Estimator will be computer literate with a good understanding of appropriate software packages.
* The Estimator will be able to integrate well into a team as well as work independently.
* Exceptional organisational skills.
* Must be able to plan and prioritise workload effectively.
* Excellent client service focus with flexible approach to work.
* Proactive in approach to work
