Job Role: Control System Engineer [Automotive] - Northamptonshire
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 Dependent on experience
The Role:
Our Northamptonshire based automotive client are recruiting for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to work on the development of real-time control software for battery powered electric vehicles [EV]. You will assist in software creation and modification for the control of a variety of vehicle devices, including high voltage powertrains.
Responsibilities:
As Control System Engineer, you will re-engineer and re-architect proof-of-concept strategies so that they are suitable for the use in production vehicles
Provide support for in vehicle testing, powertrain testing and calibration
Verify and validate control software using MIL and HIL testing
Contribute improvements to the software which will improve vehicle reliability, efficiency and driving refinement Professional Skills:
Knowledge of auto-coding with the MathWorks toolchain: Simulink, Stateflow and Embedded coder
Knowledge of C or C++ programming languages (especially for embedded applications)
Knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow
Knowledge in the configuration and use of HIL systems (dSpace)
Knowledge of automotive serial communications protocols (CAN, Flexray)
Knowledge of automotive calibration software (Etas INCA, Vector CANape)
Knowledge of electric motors and inverters
Knowledge of Li-ion battery cells and battery management systems
Experience of developing software for safety critical automotive applications (ISO 26262)
Experience of scripting in MATLAB or Python
Expertise in vehicle system design in automotive applications
Understanding of vehicle component design and construction (wires, connectors, insulation, shielding, etc)
Understanding of automotive standards and communication protocol
