Contracts Operations Manager – Torfaen
Salary: £44,000 - £48,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours: 8:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Location: New Inn HWRC/TS, Panteg Way, New Inn, Pontypool NP4 0LS
About the Role
FCC Environment is looking for a Contracts Operations Manager to take the lead in overseeing the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) and Transfer Station in Torfaen. In this key role, you will ensure seamless service delivery, uphold compliance standards, manage budgets effectively, and inspire a team to achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
- Managing the daily operations of the Torfaen HWRC and Transfer Station, ensuring all contractual and regulatory obligations are met.
- Overseeing health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Managing budgets, including contract P&L accountability, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Acting as the main point of contact for the client, handling all service delivery aspects, contract compliance, and KPI management.
- Leading a team, including recruitment, training, development, and performance management.
- Ensuring vehicle compliance under the Operator’s Licence, including adherence to driver hours and legal requirements.
- Developing and implementing strategies to maximise recycling rates and ensure efficient waste processing.
- Liaising with external stakeholders, including local councils, regulatory bodies, and the community.
- Managing site maintenance, suppliers, and hauliers to ensure smooth operations.
- Handling customer service, complaints, and contract-related queries professionally and efficiently.
- Identifying business development opportunities to expand FCC’s presence in the area.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in waste management or operations leadership.
- Holder of a Transport Manager CPC.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and compliance.
- Knowledge of waste regulations and SHEQ policies.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- IT literate (Microsoft Office).
