Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager on behalf of a well-established construction company based in Killingworth, Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation that specialises in commercial building works, including dilapidation, refurbishment, roofing, and planned/reactive maintenance.
The Role
As a Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for managing multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will work closely with the site management team and act as the main point of contact for clients, overseeing all project administration and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and monitor site-specific work programmes
* Track project progress and manage any variations
* Work with the contracts team on labour allocation
* Arrange welfare and sanitation facilities where needed
* Procure materials and manage distribution
* Oversee sub-contractor orders from the approved supplier list
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company policies
* Conduct risk and COSHH assessments and prepare RAMS
* Manage site-based employees and sub-contractors, ensuring adherence to safety policies
* Conduct site inspections and maintain financial control of projects
* Assist with interim claims and financial reporting for weekly review meetings
* Provide line management to employees and support team development
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the construction/maintenance industry
* Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
* Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and compliance requirements
* Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, site teams, and subcontractors
* A proactive and problem-solving approach to project management
